Around one-third of all food that is produced ends up as waste. This wastes all the carbon that went into growing, producing and transporting it.
Everyone thinks they don't waste food, but we have a wasteful system. Even if you never throw any food in the bin, plenty gets wasted on your behalf. But you can work with your family, your restaurant, your catering and your supermarket to reduce food waste.
For the average Australian, cutting food waste in half saves 0.2 tonnes of carbon each year.
